L.O.A 26ft. Traditional Timber Launch
Pittwater Queen (circa 1900) was brought into the yard in a very sorry state indeed. The owners found her on eBay. We advised them that they should consider scrapping her but they had a vision and at her launching she had turned from an ugly duckling into a swan.
The only original part of the boat was the stem, everything else is new.
Spotted gum was used for the keel, deadwoods and ribs.
The hull is planked with Kauri, copper fastenings were used and she was caulked in the traditional manner.
The cabin is Australian cedar, the decks are marine plywood and dynal sheathed.
A new 18hp Yanmar engine was installed.
Bloomsbury has a very pretty shape unlike many vessels of that vintage which are mostly narrow gutted and tend to roll a lot.
She is very stable and ideally suited for her new home in Lake Macquarie as "Bloomsbury" - Queen of Lake Macquarie. |
